The African Heritage
Studies Association (AHSA) believes that our mission is part of the greater
re-constructivism of the African narrative, both historically and
futuristically, in context and content. The storyline of Africa has been and
continues to be perceived as one that lacks authoritative input from its
people. Our heritage has been mediated through a Eurocentric perspective,
forming an enormous disconnect with reality, leaving out the Afrocentric view.
AHSA strives to create an African-centered organization with a
robust membership that contributes content, and context, with an impact that
will affect political, social, and economic unity among people of African
descent and the global diaspora.
The 53rd Annual Conference, which is themed Afrofuturism:
Building on our Heritage for a Better Tomorrow, is designed to
expand the point that people of African descent significantly contribute to the
global future through science, technology, culture, media, and intelligence
mechanisms and systems. As we are
reaching a pinnacle of self-awareness, it is essential to design platforms that
help to build a bridge to foster connections and a much richer experience
through the wealth of history that the African narrative possesses.
The African Heritage
Studies Association calls on its members to become dedicated to inviting other
leaders to the forum so that we can continue to grow and create the necessary
impact worldwide. Kindly share the flyer with your network and ask them to
contact our administration for more information on how to join.
